Vinh Nghiem is one of the biggest pagodas in Ho Chi Minh city, an area of 6,000 square metres which locates at 339, Nam Ky Khoi Nghia Street, District 3
Vinh Nghiem Pagoda extremely boasts of a stone tower that is the highest one around the country. Inaugurated in late December 2003, this is the first 14-meter stone tower in the South built by lots of skilled craftsmen. Vinh Nghiem Pagoda is a unique fusion of Vietnamese architectural style and Japanese influence, and built after the design of a pagoda in the northern Vietnam (they are the same name) under the support of Japan-Vietnam Friendship Association.
Special occasions like Lunar New Year or 15th of each month are when the pagoda most crowded with people visiting to pray for luck, happiness and safe to themselves and their families. Also, tourists coming at these times may observe traditional activities of Buddhist such as giving away lucky-money as good buds for the start of a new year.
